(Nashville, Tennessee) - With the April 10th release of her much anticipated new album, Gospel Duets With Treasured Friends, the remarkable BRENDA LEE will cross yet another milestone in a legendary career filled with five decades of industry 'firsts.'
The release of her first major gospel music project takes Brenda's iconic history of international awards and multiple-genre record sales topping the 100 million mark worldwide, back to the very roots of her childhood and to the gospel musical format that started it all.
Joining her on the musical celebration are just a few of Brenda's many faithful —"friends" —all of whom happen to be some of the most recognized names in the music industry—and most of whom will readily admit to counting Brenda Lee among their major career influences. Gospel Classics is Sad to Report the Loss Of "The Queen of Gospel Music" Dottie Rambo. 5-11-2008
MOUNT VERNON, Mo. — Gospel singer-songwriter Joyce "Dottie" Rambo died early Sunday when the bus she was in ran off a road in southwest Missouri and struck an embankment.
Rambo, 74, of Nashville, Tenn., died in the crash about two miles east of Mount Vernon on Interstate 44, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said. Seven other people in the bus were injured, and were hospitalized in Springfield with moderate to severe injuries, the patrol said.
It was unclear if the accident, which occurred about 2 a.m., was weather-related, the patrol said. Severe storms and tornadoes hit the region about 6 p.m. Saturday, killing 14 people. Sustained winds and storms swept through the area later in the night, according to the National Weather Service.
"She was a giant in the gospel music industry," said Beckie Simmons, Rambo's agent. "Dolly Parton recorded some of her songs."
She was on her way to a Mother's Day performance in North Richland Hills, Texas, according to her Web site.
Rambo was inducted to the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame in 2006 and the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2007.
Rambo has had more than 2,500 published songs, including gospel classics such as "He Looked Beyond My Fault and Saw My Need" and the 1982 Gospel Music Association Song of the Year, "We Shall Behold Him."

DOTTIE RAMBO, undisputed queen of
gospel music and internationally acclaimed recording artist, began
writing songs at the age of eight, while sitting on a creek bank near
her Morganfield, Kentucky home. Her talent soon received widespread
recognition, resulting in many invitations to sing in churches and at
various public functions. The demand became so heavy that she left home
at the age of twelve to embark upon a full-time career of singing and
composing music.
Other artists began to sing her songs at their performances, and many
included them on their recordings. Governor Jimmie Davis of Louisiana,
had his attention captured by the stirring melody and simple, but
profound and inspirational lyrics, he made inquiries concerning the
composer. The fact that Dottie was only a teen-ager at the time did not
dissuade the governor from signing her to a writer's contract, and
Dottie's professional career began to reach meteoric proportions.
Although she was married at the age of sixteen and a mother eighteen
months later, Dottie's schedule was hardly interrupted. In fact, her
career was enhanced when three year old Reba joined her parents to form
a singing trio. Over the years the Rambos gained increasing popularity
that spanned the globe, and they reached the pinnacle of the gospel
music world.
Dottie's distinctive voice and affecting delivery won her legions of
fans and her career soared through the early '80s. But health problems
sidelined this magnetic, amazing woman for almost two decades;
preventing her from sharing the songs she wrote, accept by the voices
of others. This all changed with the release of Stand By The River, her
first solo project in 18 years. The project included some of her
favorite songs from the past combined with brand-new compositions. The
title cut, "Stand By The River", a duet with Dolly Parton, has garnered
massive airplay and has already been nominated in three categories,
including the 2003 Song Of The Year by The Christian Country Music
Association.
The timing couldn't be better for another groundbreaking recording from
Dottie Rambo. In the summer of 2002 her friends and family surprised
Dottie with a special concert in her honor at the historic Ryman
Auditorium in Nashville. Barbara Mandrell hosted the evening as she
recounted memories along side Dottie and stories behind the great songs
of her career. With performances by some of Country and Gospel music's
most beloved artists, Dottie joined in song with the likes of Larry
Gatlin, Dolly Parton, Crystal Gayle, Vestal Goodman, The Crabb Family
and many more. The outcome is an amazing new video and DVD capturing
the evening entitled More Than The Music Presents - We Shall Behold Him
- A Tribute To Dottie Rambo and audio recording releasing
simultaneously on September 9th, 2003.
Dottie has been the recipient of numerous awards, beginning in 1968
with a Grammy for her solo album 'It's the Soul of Me.' Billboard
Magazine named her Trendsetter of the Year for the same album. In
recognition of her prolific songwriting ability, the Christian Country
Music Association honored her in 1994 as the Songwriter of The Century
and in 2002 presented her with the Living Legend award. She is a member
of the Southern Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame, and she has been
inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame twice, as a soloist and as
part of the Rambo trio.
Dottie received a Dove award in 1999 for her song, 'I Go to The Rock,"
sung by Whitney Houston in the hit motion picture 'The Preacher's
Wife." Houston's soundtrack recording of the song went double platinum.
The multitudinous awards bestowed on Dottie culminated in 2001 with the
ASCAP Foundation's Lifetime Achievement award.
Over the years Dottie has been associated with a host of secular and
gospel music performers. She has recorded with such notable artists as
Dolly Parton, Barbara Mandrell and Dickie Betts. Among the many
personalities with whom Dottie has appeared are Donna Summer, Mahalia
Jackson, Pat Boone, CeCe Winans and Ricky Skaggs. She has appeared on
the legendary Grand Ole Opry on numerous occasions.
Besides Whitney Houston, many others have recorded Dottie's songs,
including Elvis Presley, Dolly Parton, Barbara Mandrell, Dottie West,
Crystal Gayle, Larry Gatlin, Johnny Cash, Sandy Patti, Jerry Lee Lewis,
Tom T. Hall, Vince Gill, Larnelle Harris, Bill Monroe, George Beverly
Sheas, Vestal Goodman, Bill Gaither, Connie Smith, dc talk, Aarron

For many years Dottie has enjoyed far-reaching television exposure,
having made frequent appearances on all the major Christian networks,
countless local stations, and on TNN, PAX and GMT. During the 1980's
TBN featured Dottie in one of it's most successful series, a christian
variety show called Dottie Rambo Magazine. The network still shows
reruns of the series. In addition, Dottie has been a fixture in the
Gaither Homecoming television and video series.
Having written over 2,500 published songs, Dottie ranks with the
beloved Fanny Crosby among the women who have had the greatest impact
in the field of gospel music. Hardly any modern hymnal fails to include
one or more of her songs, and movies and television specials around the
world have featured songs by Dottie Rambo. A feature film has been
planned about Ms. Rambo's life as well.
Dottie's biggest hit song, and probably the best known, is the
inspirational 'He Looked Beyond My Fault and Saw My Need, ' a song that
continues an upward spiral and one that she sings at all her
performances. Other well-known titles include 'We Shall Behold Him,'

Ferguson and family
Larry Ferguson is a name that many people may or may not be familiar with. Born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, Larry is the friend and manager to Dottie Rambo. He and his wife, Judy, have been married for over 10 years and they have 2 children, Christian who is 5 years old and Pierce who is 15 months. For the last several years, Larry has been the main overseer for Dottie and her ministry. After traveling with Dottie over the last several years, Larry has many road stories to share and he has recently written a book about his travels with Dottie, aptly called "Driving Miss Dottie". BIO: THE SPIDLES
Mike and Pam Spidle come from Northern Missouri. They began their ministry about a year after they were married. They organized a quartet and sang southern gospel music for several years. Mike began writing country gospel, gospel bluegrass, and southern gospel music about eight years ago, and Mike and Pam now sing and minister as a duet wherever doors are opened to them. Mike writes most of their music and is thankful for the ability with which God has blessed him.

Long before Susie Luchsinger began making records, she was growing up
on a ranch in a small town in Oklahoma. Her father, Clark, earned a
living as a world champion steer roper. Her mother, Jackie, had a
passion for country music and passed on her musical talent and passion
to her children. Just as Susie was approaching her teen-age years, she
began singing with her siblings, Pake and Reba, as the “Singing
McEntires.” About ten years later, in 1980, after graduating from
Oklahoma State University, Susie was singing with her sister again,
only this time her sister had become country superstar Reba McEntire.
In addition to performing concerts in front of sold-out crowds, they
made television appearances on programs such as “The Johnny Carson
Show,” “Hee Haw,” and “The Grand Ole Opry.” It was during this time
that they also toured with the renowned Ronnie Milsap and Merle Haggard.
While still touring with Reba in 1981, Susie married Paul Luchsinger, a
professional rodeo steer wrestler. As the demands of both her busy
career and her husband’s became overwhelming, Susie and Paul came to a
“low point” in their marriage. “There were power struggles and a lot of
pride,” she says. “The only way Paul knew how to express his emotions
was by yelling and pushing . . . he didn’t have the power to control
himself.” Knowing there was a better plan for them, Susie made a
recommitment to God, promising to use her talent for His glory and His
service. They felt God was calling them to go out as a family on the
rodeo circuit. For the next several years, Susie and Paul traveled
together to rodeos, where Paul would compete and Susie would sing. It
was during these years that she recorded her first five albums.
Had the “low point” in their marriage passed? Not quite. This was
Susie’s scenario: She married a man who adored her, fathered her three
loving children, and supported her singing career. Her family life
seemed well balanced until she found herself in a repeat performance of
physical and mental abuse from her husband. Paul’s violent temper did
not discriminate against their children, either. Just like clockwork,
after each abusive incident, he would apologize and he would promise
that it would never happen again . . . only that it always did happen
again. It was a tough situation in which to be. How heartbreaking it
was to Susie to discover the man she married was capable of harming her
and emotionally terrorizing her children. Susie’s options . . . Stay in
the marriage she worked so hard to build and try to “work things out,”
or pack her bags, gather her children, and leave her husband in hopes
of starting a new life? You may never be the victim of domestic
violence, but you possibly know someone who has been or is now a
victim. The miraculous story you are about to hear could change your /
their life. It is an encouraging testimony about a courageous physical
abuse victim who chose to stay with her husband “for better or for
worse” and prayed to God for a miraculous healing in her marriage that,
in time, came to pass. This is the story of Susie Luchsinger . . . the
story about A Tender Road Home.
In 1987, six years after the abusive behavior began, it was time for
Susie to take a bold step against this behavior for the safety of
herself and her children. Agreeably, Susie and Paul began various
methods of marital counseling (reading books, listening to audio tapes,
attending conferences, etc.). It was not until about eight years later
the violent behavior ended completely. Susie explains, “Paul hasn’t
lost control of his temper since 1995. The years that followed felt
like a tremendous cancer had been removed from our family, but it was
not just the eight years of counseling that healed our marriage. God
healed our marriage by providing Godly men to hold Paul accountable and
by speaking to Paul through His Word and teaching him he had to deal
with his emotions before they turned into actions. We claim what
Philippians 4:8 says,
‘Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is
right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if
anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about these things.”
What a wonderful year for Susie Luchsinger . . . she was experiencing tremendous success in her career and her marriage.
Susie was inspired to write a book with Paul. “Several years later,
after most of the emotional wounds of our abusive marriage had healed,
Paul and I decided that we wanted our story of healing to be told to
encourage others that might be in the same situation. So we wrote A
Tender Road Home (Broadman & Holman Publishers). We recorded A
Tender Road Home at the same time because we felt like the music
expressed our story so well, and music is such a large part of our
ministry.”
Best known for her #1 radio hits “For Pete’s Sake,” “I Saw Him In Your
Eyes,” and “I Don’t Love You Like I Used To,” it was second nature for
Susie to also deliver her message of hope for healing in song as a kind
of “companion” to their book. Susie recruited the talent of
award-winning songwriters for A Tender Road Home, including Paul
Overstreet, Billy Aerts (Joe Cocker, Lee Greenwood, Lobo) and Clair
Cloninger (Paul Overstreet, Sandi Patty) to compile ten songs that
would best reflect Susie’s heart. New Haven Records President, Ken
Harding, said, “The production is excellent and this collection of
songs is electric: some are love songs, some are powerful spiritual
songs, and some are country songs.” Harding continued, “Billy Aerts
(Lobo) did a great job producing this record.”
A Tender Road Home is a summation of songs that will encourage
listeners in their personal relationships with God, and in their
personal relationships at home, as well. The title song best reflects
Susie’s daily “walks” with God. “Holy Heart” is a powerful anthem for
all Christians and serves as a reminder of God’s presence during our
journey we call life. One cut sure to get your toes tapping is “You
Can’t Take It With You,” a “tell it like it is” tune about eternal
riches and “investing on higher ground.”
In recent years Susie has appeared on television programs such as “The
Leeza Gibbons Show,” “Crook & Chase,” “The 700 Club,” “Day &
Date,” and “Extra.”

Stella explains performing for a live audience as “being able to tell a great story and have it ride on a melody is like taking an audience on a magic carpet ride.” Her voice is authentic and unadulterated yet dynamic and compelling. Stella herself is a contrast of sensibilities. Although tiny and petite, her enduring voice will take you from that of a little girl to that of a secure woman and have you jumping in your seat for
more. Stella has chosen to live a creative life full of imagination, hope and possibility. This was evident when she began writing songs as a little girl and has since written hundreds of songs and traveled and performed internationally. Stella’s current project is her new CD, “Testimony” and Stella says “this is some of the best material I have written in a while.” Testimony includes everything from country to pop to rock. The first song “Virtuous Woman” has a nice upbeat, toe tapping sound with an inspiring quality that only Stella could conceive.

In January, 1984 with two brothers Darrell and Ricky
Luster Charles Johnson formed the group Charles Johnson and The
Revivers and with no promoter or booking agent they loaded up their
guitars and sound system and were ready to travel and minister, but
where? Three days later a gentleman called to ask if Charles would like
to come to Melbourne, Arkansas, Charles asked "what for"? The man said,
"to sing", Charles said "that's what I do, I'd love to come". After
nineteen days singing from church to church in the Melbourne area, that
church called a friend in West Virginia and they went and sang at
almost every church in West Virginia.
Following this experience Charles Johnson and The Revivers began to
sing "their" music. Not knowing what the term Southern Gospel meant
they wrote and sang what they felt, the way they felt it. One of their
first songs, "Sealed Til the Day of Redemption" got into the hands of a
Southern Gospel radio station in 1988, it was played, and from this
Charles began to send the album out to other stations to have them play
it also, the song took off and created a whole new listening audience
of people that loved his music. In 1990 they followed that up with "I
Can't Even Walk Without You Holding My Hand", this song went into the
top 5 on the Singing News Chart. "I Can't Even Walk" got the attention
of Nashville record companies and Charles signed a recording contract
in 1991 with Canaan records which was sold and distributed by Word.
Charles Johnson and The Revivers first album for Canaan was the live
album "Let's Have Church" released in 1992, this was followed by two
studio albums, "We Cannot Stand Alone" released in 1994 and "I Believe"
released in 1995. All of the singles released from these albums were
hits on the Southern Gospel charts. The people did not know who he was,
but they loved his music.
In 1996 Charles signed with Centergy records and recorded his first
ever "Hymns" album, something he had wanted to do for years, this was
released in December 1996. Charles album "Good Time In the House" was
released in 1997. By far his best studio album ever is "Waiting for the
Messiah, the title song was a hit single at number 17 on the Singing
News Charts. It was at a Gaither video taping that Babbie Mason asked
Charles if he was the same Charles Johnson that her mother used to love
to listen to, he was.
Now available are two new and exciting releases, "Jasper Walls", a CD
and "A Nation Under God", a dynamic and inspiring music video that
reminds us of the spiritual heritage of this country and calls us back
to a renewed commitment to God. The video includes awesome historical
and scenic footage that will stir Patriotic embers into full flame and
together with the Revivers music will cause viewers to join in praise
to Almighty God. AH of these albums have National sales distribution
and promotion through New Day Christian Distributors.

Charles Johnsons' Autobiography entitled "Another River to Cross"
published by Destiny Image released in June 2002 has received a lot of
positive compliments and support from his fans. This book will make you
cry, laugh, and shout. It's full of Biblical teachings which you can
apply to everyday situations, you will be thrilled at the story of "my
grandmother", who was snatched from Africa and sold into slavery when
she was only 10 years old, at the same time her twin was sold to
another Master, the two sisters did not see or hear from each other
until they were miraculously reunited 100 years later. Granny died in
1966 at about the age of 115. In the book he relates the wit and wisdom
she poured into him as well as the stories behind his songs.
Charles Johnson is a very unassuming down to earth man. He's not a very
talkative artist. If his songs are on the charts that's okay with him,
if they're not, well that's okay with Charles as well. He's not much
into playing "the game", or the politics of it all. Charles says "I
know I'm doing what God wants me to do, and I know I'm doing it the way
He wants me to do it. God wants me to minister to the people His way.
I'm not a Quartet and I'm not the Traditional Southern Gospel group but
as long as the people love what we do and lives are changed that's what
it's all about".

Harvest Wind is a bluegrass gospel group from the Statesville, North
Carolina area but they are anything but typical bluegrass gospel. They
have a tight four part harmony and, as their record label states, "top

this with their trade mark sound and this brings you to Harvest Wind, a
band which has transcended bluegrass gospel boundaries and is becoming

Part of the driving force behind this band is Revonda's clear, powerful
and natural bluegrass voice. She delivers a classic bluegrass vocal
that compels you to come forth, sit down and listen. She is known for
her smooth, long bow fiddle playing. Her songwriting and vocal ability
is evident and it's clear that both she and this band are carving out
their own place in bluegrass gospel.
Lonnie's approach to the mandolin is tasteful and rhythmic. Every solo
is an original and fits the band's sound without question. He is
consistent and you can always count on him to nail it! He has an
ability to pick material that fits the band. Lonnie also plays other
instruments, but the mandolin is his favorite. His voice rounds out
their four-part harmony.
Justin is the band's 17 year old banjo player. He has rock solid timing
and displays talent well beyond his years. Justin is also an
accomplished songwriter in his own right and has written several

Pat and Connie give God all the Glory for the songs Pat has written and composed, and for the airplay the DJ's are giving their music. The Lord began opening doors for them in 1985 when their first project was born. Six of 10 songs were written by Pat at that time. Since then, they have had six more projects with all original material. They are members of CCMA and CGMA. They have had several songs released with HMG, Nashville. Currently, they have 3 releases with Glory Train Records, two of which have been on the Hot Singles Chart and God's Country Chart.
